Aizawl: Mizoram Police have formed an SIT to probe the murder of a 15-year-old girl from Mualthuam North village in south Mizoram’s Lunglei district. The girl’s body was recovered on Wednesday from a school premises in the village, police said on Friday.H Ramthlengliana, IGP and chief public relations officer of Mizoram Police, said H Lalramdinpuii (15) left her house at around 8:30 pm on Monday and did not return. Her family members and village volunteers searched through Tuesday night. Her body was found at around 10:20 am on Wednesday.Police have registered a case at Lunglei Police Station under Sections 103(1) and 140(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.A three-member SIT, headed by R Lalthankima, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Lunglei, has been constituted to investigate the case. The team is camping in Mualthuam North village and has launched efforts to identify and arrest those responsible. No one has been detained so far.The murder has triggered widespread outrage across Mizoram. CM Lalduhoma and Education Minister Vanlalthlana condemned the killing and said those behind the crime would be brought to justice.
