Dibrugarh: Police from Dibrugarh have arrested two Kerala youths in connection with an alleged Rs 50-lakh “Boss Scam” reported in the city on Aug 10.A three-member police team, with assistance from Kerala Police, arrested Suhail Palli and Azharuddin P, both from Malappuram. The accused were brought to Dibrugarh on transit remand on Tuesday and are being interrogated.Police said the investigation revealed an interstate network linked to the cyber fraud. Dibrugarh SSP Abhijit Gurav said the accused were allegedly facilitating the operation.A “Boss Scam” involves fraudsters impersonating senior company officials and persuading employees or business associates to make urgent financial transfers through email, WhatsApp or other digital platforms.Police said several people in Dibrugarh fell victim to the scam but did not disclose their identities, citing the ongoing investigation.“The ‘Boss Scam’ has already resulted in around nine to 10 cases across Assam. The primary challenge for companies and individuals conducting financial transactions is monitoring accounts and maintaining checks and balances. This scam trend is spreading not just in Assam, but all across India,” Gurav said.When asked whether Dibrugarh residents were part of the network, Gurav said the investigation was ongoing. He said the network extended across multiple states and police would pursue the remaining links.
