JAIPUR: Eight cars were gutted in a fire at a Mercedes workshop in Sitapura, while more than 50 cars were moved to safety after the blaze broke out late Tuesday night, damaging expensive vehicle parts and accessories.The fire broke out at the workshop in Balaji Market under Sanganer Sadar police station.Flames and thick smoke rose from the premises, with the smoke visible from nearly 5km away, prompting police and fire teams to rush to the spot.Firefighters and police personnel began moving vehicles out of the workshop as the flames spread through the premises.The electricity supply to the surrounding area was also switched off as a precaution.Around 10 fire tenders made more than two dozen trips before the fire was brought under control after nearly two hours, fire officer Usha Sharma said.Police said no one was injured in the incident.A preliminary assessment indicated that a short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be established.Police and fire officials are assessing the damage to the workshop and vehicles.
