Jaipur: Mild to moderate showers continued at many places across state Saturday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast an active phase of the southwest monsoon over the state during the next seven days.The Met office said heavy rainfall was likely at many places in Udaipur and Kota divisions, while scattered rainfall was expected at some places and light to moderate rain at many other places in Jaipur and Jodhpur divisions in the coming days. According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, widespread monsoon activity was expected to persist through the coming week, with intermittent spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several districts. The rainfall was likely to keep daytime temperatures close to or below normal across most parts of the state.Jaipur witnessed a cloudy day with intermittent light showers on Saturday. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 33.1°C, marginally below normal, while the minimum settled at 27.4°C. Jaipur received rainfall of nearly 7mm till 5.30pm Saturday. The IMD forecast generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers in Jaipur during the next 24 hours, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 32°C and 25°C, respectively.On Saturday, rainfall activity was reported from several parts of the state. Many places in Udaipur and Kota divisions witnessed rainfall varying from 70mm to 60mm. In western Rajasthan, Jaisalmer and Barmer received rainfall of 35mm and 14.2mm respectively.Despite the active monsoon, western Rajasthan continued to record comparatively higher daytime temperatures. Jaisalmer was the hottest place in the state at 36.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Barmer at 36.6°C, Bikaner at 35.8°C, Phalodi at 35.6°C, Sri Ganganagar at 35.4°C and Jodhpur at 35.2°C. In contrast, temperatures remained relatively pleasant in the southeastern and hilly regions, with Udaipur recording 30.8°C, Kota 31.6°C, Ajmer 31.9°C and Jaipur 33.1°C.The IMD said the prevailing weather pattern was likely to sustain rainfall activity across Rajasthan over the next week, with the heaviest precipitation expected over the southern and southeastern districts.
