Provocative remarks: Karnataka legislator CT Ravi refuses to accept police notice

Chikkamagaluru: High drama unfolded at former minister and BJP MLC CT Ravi’s residence in Chikkamagaluru after police arrived to serve him notice over alleged provocative remarks targeting the Muslim community and referring to protesters at Jantar Mantar as the “tukde gang”.Lawyers and a large number of BJP workers at his Basavanahalli residence condemned what they termed the police’s “discriminatory attitude” and raised slogans against them.City police inspector Abhay Prakash and his team visited Ravi’s house to serve the notice. Ravi demanded a copy of the FIR first and questioned the cops. “Is there even a single word about religion in my speech? Does ‘Mulla’ mean the Muslim community? I was speaking about those who came to set fire, not against any community,” he said, while warning police against acting as “puppets” at the hands of politicians. As Ravi refused to accept the notice, inspector Prakash left the spot amid continued sloganeering by BJP workers.
