Ahmedabad: A couple who arrived at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport from Kuwait on Tuesday were arrested with 300g of gold. The customs department’s Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) stated that the gold has a market value of Rs 47 lakh.The couple hail from Andhra Pradesh.A customs department statement said that the passengers had concealed 24-carat gold jewellery (gold bangles, chains and anklets) weighing 308.7g in total and having a total market value of Rs 46.9 lakh. The female passenger had hidden the gold in her check-in baggage, handbag and on her body, beneath her garments. The man had worn a gold chain concealed beneath his clothing.This is the latest in a string of seizures at the airport.
