Shiva Kumar PinnaWarangal: A day after Congress party leader A Mahesh was doused with petrol and burnt to death, police intensified their investigation to nab the accused. Geesukonda police are collecting evidence from the incident spot. The isolated Kotilingala Temple area does not have CCTV cameras, though police are searching for clues from CCTV footage from nearby plot ventures.According to police, a history-sheeter case had been opened against the accused, Pathri Kumar, in 2018 at the Intezargunj police station, and he was involved in a murder case. At present, an FIR has been registered against him at the Geesukonda police station in connection with the incident. His residence falls under the jurisdiction of the Enumamula police station.Police from all three stations have been making efforts to nab Kumar, who has been absconding since Saturday night after allegedly pouring petrol on Mahesh and setting him ablaze.Mahesh’s wife Lakshmi and his relatives staged a protest at the MGM Hospital junction on Monday. The relatives demanded stringent action against Pathri Kumar. During the rasta roko protest, vehicular traffic was disrupted on the Warangal–Kazipet Highway. Police later pacified the protesters and restored traffic movement.Speaking at the protest, Lakshmi demanded strict action against Kumar. “How dare he come out on bail in a murder case and start settlements and murders? Police should not remain silent on the issue, and he must be punished,” she said.Speaking to TOI, Wardhannapet MLA KR Nagaraju announced that an anganwadi post would be provided to Lakshmi, the wife of deceased Congress party leader A Mahesh. He also assured financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to the family from his salary.On the 11th day of the ceremony, TPCC president B Mahesh Goud is scheduled to visit and announce the party’s financial assistance to the bereaved family. He also announced that a double-bedroom house from his assembly constituency quota would be provided to Mahesh’s wife Lakshmi.
