Varanasi: Three people died while one got critically ill after inhaling toxic gas in Kidhira village of Chandauli district on Saturday. The incident took place when they entered a well to retrieve a submersible pump for repair.Villagers said that four people entered a well after a submersible pump installed inside the well got dysfunctional. However, they inhaled toxic gas and fell unconscious.When they did not respond to repeated calls, villagers raised an alarm and informed the police. A rescue operation was launched with the help of local residents and police, and all of them were pulled out.They were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared three of them dead. They were identified as Jamal (35), Tauqir Alam (18) and Waris Ali (18). The fourth person, Shamsher, is said to be critical.Chandauli district magistrate Chandra Mohan Garg and superintendent of police Akash Patel reached the village after getting information. The DM said that all possible assistance was being provided to the bereaved families.
