Bengaluru: A relaxed Wednesday afternoon at a cinema hall turned into a frightening experience for several viewers after a portion of the ceiling collapsed inside Bharathi Theatre near Jalahalli Cross in north Bengaluru. The incident occurred while Kannada film ‘Premada Oorali’ was being screened. Several moviegoers who had arrived for the afternoon show were caught off guard when part of the theatre’s ceiling, asphaltic sheets and plaster of Paris (PoP) suddenly came crashing down during rain.According to preliminary information, three persons sustained injuries — two to their heads and another on the leg. The injured, treated as outpatients in a nearby hospital, are out of danger. The theatre management refunded the money to those who chose to walk out, fearing their safety, while they continued screening for others who stayed back after the collapsed roof was temporarily covered. Some viewers blamed the management’s negligence for the incident. They said the situation could have been far more serious had rain been heavier.
