3 bodies recovered after limestone mine landslide in Sirmaur

Shimla: The bodies of all three people trapped in a landslide at a limestone mining site in Sirmaur’s Shillai tehsil were recovered by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Wednesday, a day after the accident.The landslide occurred on Tuesday afternoon at a mining site in Tilordhar near Kafota, when heavy debris and large boulders came crashing down. The NDRF, assisted by local police and residents, recovered all three victims.Two of the deceased were identified as tipper driver Anil Kumar, a resident of Barwas, and labourer Dhan Singh, from Bedkot Municipality in Nepal’s Kanchanpur district. The third victim was also from Nepal.Two vehicles and an L&T machine were damaged in the incident. Sirmaur deputy commissioner Priyanka Verma and Shillai SDM Jaspal remained at the site during the rescue operation.The district mining officer said limestone mining activities can continue during the monsoon.
