The Lucknow Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown on vehicles fitted with modified silencers and launched a special enforcement drive to curb excessive noise and sound pollution caused by such alterations.
Lucknow: Traffic police conducted a special enforcement drive against vehicles fitted with modified silencers from Sept 2 to 14, issuing challans to 808 vehicle owners and seizing 22 vehicles during the 13-day campaign.A total of 5,583 vehicles were checked and 601 modified silencers were removed from two-wheelers found violating prescribed standards, traffic police said.The campaign was launched to curb the use of modified exhaust systems that produce excessively loud noise, particularly on motorcycles.Traffic police appealed to vehicle owners to use only silencers conforming to prescribed standards and avoid unauthorised modifications to their vehicles.
