Imphal: Two villagers were killed and two others injured after unidentified armed men opened fire on Langka Naga village in Kangpokpi district on Friday morning.The attack reportedly took place at around 7:30 am as villagers gathered for farming activities. All four victims were residents of Langka Naga village.The deceased were identified as Wiriliangbou Chawang and Kawidinang Abonmai. The injured, Namthiulungbou Prinmai and Maliangjinang Abonmai, were evacuated by security forces to RIMS.According to reports, Prinmai sustained a groin injury, while Abonmai suffered injuries to the chest and arm.Speaking to reporters at RIMS, Foothills Naga coordination committee convener Ng Akhiu alleged that 50-60 armed cadres of the Kuki National Front carried out the attack and described it as pre-planned.Akhiu questioned how such a large armed group could move towards the village without detection, noting that an Army outpost is about 7.5 km away. He alleged a major intelligence and security lapse and asked why Army, police and central forces were unaware of the movement.He also cited an earlier case involving the killing of six Naga civilians and questioned the progress of the investigation after it was transferred to National Investigation Agency (NIA), saying nearly three months had passed without a substantial outcome.Akhiu urged the state and central govts to identify and arrest those responsible for the Langka attack and ensure they are prosecuted under the law. He warned that repeated attacks on civilians without accountability could deepen tensions and fuel further violence.The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur, condemned the incident and announced an emergency total shutdown in Liangmai-inhabited areas to protest the killings and injuries. Police registered a case in this regard.
