2 FIRs against Taleigao man in job scam case

Panaji: Panaji police registered two FIRs against Taleigao resident Ajit Shankhwalkar for cheating and forgery after a job scam surfaced at the excise department on Thursday. Manoj Talekar walked into the Panaji excise office claiming he had been appointed additional excise commissioner, carrying an appointment letter he had received from Shankhwalkar. Excise staff quickly realised Talekar was not the new appointee, and an initial police inquiry confirmed the letter was forged.Sanket Sakhardande, assistant commissioner of excise, filed a complaint alleging that Shankhwalkar created forged documents dated Sept 24 and issued them in the name of Ashvin Chandru A, commissioner of excise. Talekar’s father, Govind, also complained that Shankhwalkar promised govt jobs for Manoj and Manisha, took Rs 27 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, respectively, and supplied forged appointment letters, including one for deputy director of accounts.
