Jaisalmer: A major forgery has surfaced in the 2022 Home Guard recruitment in Barmer, with 17 candidates allegedly found to have submitted fake certificates to claim bonus marks and improve their chances of selection.Border Home Guard Corps, Barmer, lodged a complaint against the candidates at Kotwali police station Friday. Additional administrative officer Deep Singh filed the complaint, and police have started investigating the case.According to the complaint, the candidates allegedly submitted forged certificates for sports, Scouts, ITI and computer qualifications to claim bonus marks and secure a place in the selection list.The department later verified the documents submitted during recruitment. Several certificates were found to be fake during scrutiny, officials said.Home Guard Commandant Mahendra Singh said certificates submitted by the 17 candidates under sports, Scouts, ITI and computer categories were found fake during verification. The department then approached police and lodged the complaint.The scrutiny also allegedly found a candidate had submitted a caste certificate belonging to a category different from the candidate’s actual category.According to the complaint, the candidate belonged to Scheduled Tribe (ST) category but allegedly submitted a Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate.Officials said the alleged fraud came to light during verification of documents submitted to claim bonus marks under various categories.Police said they would verify the certificates and examine the allegations during the investigation.
