15-yr-old shoots friend over who would feature first in Instagram reel

Jaipur: A dispute over who would feature first in an Instagram reel allegedly ended in the killing of a 16-year-old boy in Dholpur’s Saipau area, with police detaining his 15-year-old friend Friday. Police said the killing initially appeared to be a blind murder.The incident took place Tuesday at an unfinished college site in Tasimo village. Police said the two teenagers were friends and regularly made short videos for Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms to attract views and comments.SP Vikas Sangwan said the detained minor is being questioned in connection with the killing of Saurabh Kushwah, who was allegedly shot in the head during an argument.According to police, the two teenagers had gone to the boundary wall of the unfinished college to shoot another reel and were allegedly carrying an illegal firearm. An argument broke out over who would appear in the reel first, after which the 15-year-old allegedly fired the weapon, hitting Saurabh in the head.The shooting took place around 2.30pm. Saurabh was rushed to Dholpur hospital and later referred to Agra. His condition deteriorated on the way and he was taken to another hospital, where doctors declared him dead.A case was registered on a complaint by Saurabh’s uncle Wednesday.Police said questioning of minors identified during the investigation eventually led them to the 15-year-old, who allegedly disclosed his involvement in the killing.
