Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Friday granted the state govt two weeks to submit a proposal on the redevelopment of Jaipur Metropolitan-1 court complex, where inadequate infrastructure and shortage of space and parking have emerged as major concerns.A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Chandra Shekhar Sharma was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocates Deendayal Khandelwal and Dharmendra Moolwani, seeking redevelopment of the existing court complex into a multi-storey facility.The state govt had earlier proposed a structure on the lines of the eight-storey Jaipur Metropolitan-2 court complex, along with basement parking, to address the shortage of space and parking facilities at the existing complex.During the hearing, Advocate General Rajendra Prasad sought additional time, submitting that the state govt needed to finalise the proposal and obtain the necessary approvals before placing the plan before the court. The bench granted the state two weeks for the purpose.Earlier on Aug 7, the petitioners had proposed redevelopment of the Metropolitan-1 court complex on the lines of the eight-storey Metropolitan-2 court complex, with basement parking to address the shortage of space and parking facilities.During the hearing, High Court had directed Advocate General to examine the feasibility of the proposal for redevelopment of the existing court complex. The court had also asked the chief town planner and technical experts to assess the proposal and submit a report within six weeks.The proposed multi-storey redevelopment is aimed at providing better infrastructure for judges, lawyers, litigants and court staff.
