Jhunjhunu: The nomination process for urban local body elections began Thursday, with 130 nomination papers filed across Jhunjhunu, Sikar and Churu districts, even as political parties are yet to announce their candidates.In Jhunjhunu district, 42 nomination papers were filed on the first day. District election officer Dr Arun Garg said, “In Jhunjhunu Nagar Parishad, one candidate filed one nomination paper. In Chirawa, 11 candidates filed 11 papers, while in Udaipurwati, 12 candidates filed 18 papers.”He added that five candidates filed five nomination papers in Khetri, while no nominations were filed in Bagad, Mandrela, Pilani, Vidya Vihar, Surajgarh, Buhana, Jakhal, Mukundgarh, Mandawa and Bissau.In Sikar district, 58 nomination papers were filed by 52 candidates across 14 urban local bodies. District election officer and collector Ashish Modi said, “The highest 18 nomination papers were filed in Reengas Municipality by 17 candidates, followed by 11 papers in Ramgarh Shekhawati and 10 in Fatehpur Nagar Parishad.”He said no candidate filed nominations in Danta, Khatushyamji, Palsana, Khandela and Ajitgarh municipalities on the first day.In Churu district, 30 nomination papers were filed by 27 candidates across 11 urban local bodies. Deputy district election officer Arpita Soni said, “The highest number of nomination papers was received in Ratangarh, followed by Rajgarh and Bidasar.”She added that the nominations were filed for elections to a total of 430 wards in the district’s urban local bodies.
