Surat: Flood relief distribution in the city and surrounding rural areas has been accelerated under state govt directives to ensure quick financial assistance to affected residents. The district administration has so far disbursed more than Rs 19.86 crore to 88,796 affected people across six city talukas.It includes cash dole assistance totalling Rs 5.38 crore paid to 59,852 beneficiaries. Among talukas, Katargam recorded distribution of Rs 22.52 lakh to 2,503 people, while Puna saw Rs 1.57 crore released to 17,552 beneficiaries. Majura received Rs 51.91 lakh for 5,768 people and Abrama Rs 11 lakh for 1,228 beneficiaries. The largest cash dole support was provided in Udhna, where over Rs 2.66 crore was disbursed to 29,550 affected residents, and Adajan recorded Rs 5 lakh for 300 beneficiaries.Household goods’ assistance has also been provided, with Rs 14.47 crore paid to 28,944 affected families across the six talukas. This includes Rs 60.50 lakh to 2,545 families in Katargam, Rs 4 crore to 8,151 families in Puna, Rs 1.27 crore to 2,545 beneficiaries in Majura, Rs 34.80 lakh to 696 families in Abrama, Rs 7.38 crore to 14,775 families in Udhna, and Rs 7.50 lakh to 150 beneficiaries in Adajan. Surveys in affected areas are continuing.
