Pune: “I am confident that the police will conduct a fair and thorough investigation to ensure justice for my son. The truth must come out and those responsible should be punished,” Vishal Agarwal, father of Ketan Agarwal, told the reporters on Friday.Ketan Agarwal was murdered on June 18 after his fiancee, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly pushed him into a gorge from a cliff at Lohagad Fort. Later, Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested in connection with the case. They are in judicial custody.Vishal Agarwal further said, “If Siya had declined the marriage proposal at the outset, our family would not have had to go through this ordeal. The parents must instil the right values in their children. No other Ketan should meet the same fate.”A relative couple, he said, had arranged the marriage of Ketan and Siya. “They had assured us that the girl belonged to a good family. They had told us that they knew her since childhood and considered her like a daughter. I do not understand why they behaved this way,” he said.Recalling his son’s concerns before the incident, Agarwal said, “Ketan had told us that Siya was often unhappy and that her cellphone remained frequently busy. At the time, I advised my son that it was a new relationship that they were going to be involved in and things would improve after marriage.”Agarwal said his family was devastated by Ketan’s murder. “My father suffered a severe shock after his grandson’s death. His health deteriorated, and he died while undergoing treatment. We are yet to recover from this tragedy,” he said.
