Hyderabad: Jammikunta police in Karimnagar district have solved the murder of a 51-year-old tenant farmer within two days of the crime, arresting a farmer from Madipally village who allegedly planned the killing after watching YouTube videos on how to commit murder, evade police and make weapons.The tenant farmer from Ankushapur village, was murdered on the night of June 27. According to police, the accused, a 40-year-old farmer from Madipally village in Jammikunta mandal, lay in wait in agricultural fields along the outskirts of the village and attacked the victim with an iron rod as he was cycling home around 11.30 pm.“He sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot,” Jammikunta inspector S Ramakrishna said.Following the murder, the victim’s wife told police that the accused harboured a grudge against her husband over his alleged misbehaviour with a woman from Ankushapur and suspected his involvement in the crime.Police tracked the suspect using mobile phone location data and detained him on Monday. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to the murder.Investigators said the tenant farmer had been arrested a few months ago in an attempted rape case involving a woman from the accused’s village. Police said the accused’s wife left him after he developed a close relationship with the woman. After his release from jail, the tenant farmer allegedly continued to harass her, further fuelling the accused’s anger.“The accused was enraged with the tenant farmer and hatched a plan to eliminate him. He waited in the agricultural fields along the village road on the night of June 27 and fatally attacked him with an iron rod. Prior to the murder, he searched YouTube for videos on how to commit a murder, evade police and make weapons,” Ramakrishna said.The accused was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
