Pune: A youth who thrashed as well as robbed a 20-year-old student and his friend of Rs14,000 along with his three aides was nabbed because of his unique hairstyle.The robbery happened late on Friday night near Talegaon bus station. The student, who is from Latur, and his friend were returning to their rented accommodation in Talegaon Dabhade after filling petrol in their scooter, said sub-inspector MS Mohare of the Talegaon Dabhade police. “Two men on a scooter forced them to stop and threatened them with a billhook,” he said.The officer said the duo forcibly took the two near a bus stand and called two more accomplices. “The four accused then beat the student and his friend. They threatened to kill the former and snatched Rs6,000 from him,” he said.Mohare said the four accused then took the student and his friend to an ATM kiosk along the Talegaon-Chakan Road and forced him to withdraw Rs8,000 and fled. “The student approached the police station and lodged a complaint. He gave us the description of the accused, who has a unique hairstyle.”He said the police checked the CCTV camera footage, alerted the informant and identified the accused. “We nabbed the youth (19). He has a criminal record and revealed names of his three accomplices. We have arrested two accused and detained the minor. We are looking for the fourth accomplice,” Mohare added.
