The protesters stated that the examination for the posts of pharmacy officer conducted on July 19 had leaked even as the authorities were making claims that the paper had not leaked, but some candidates indulged in cheating using electronic gadgets provided by a gang by charging money ranging from Rs 3.5-13 lakh. The Akali functionaries stated that it is the first such protest and if the state govt did not give any heed to their demands, more such protests would be held in the near future.Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) functionary Parambans Singh Bunty Romana also participated in the sit-in protest while lending support to YAD and SOI protests.Bunty Romana said the AAP govt was adopting double standards as during the Jantar Mantar protests by youths, it demanded the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, but in Punjab it was not ready to take action against state education and health minister after six papers had leaked in the last four years in Punjab. “Akali Dal and its youth and students wingswill not sit back and will force the state government to show the doors to the ministers,” he said.Activists from Congress and BJP, too, had been demanding resignations of the ministers since Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned as Union education minister. The police had arrested 28 candidates and seven gang members after Bluetoothoperated gadgets were recovered from the candidates on July 19 during exam conducted by BFUHS at centres in Faridkot, Kotkapura and Ferozepur. The state govt, including chief minister Bhagwant Mann, time and again had stated that it was not a case of paper leak, but of cheating and the police had taken prompt action.
