Gorakhpur: Ahead of the first Monday of Shravan, the Yogi Adityanath govt has intensified efforts to improve pilgrim facilities by undertaking large-scale restoration and tourism development works at major Shiv temples across Gorakhpur.According to Rajendra Prasad, deputy director, tourism department, major temples that have undergone renovation include Piteshwarnath Temple in Bharohiya, Mansarovar Temple in Gorakhnath, Mukteshwarnath Temple in Rajghat, Jharkhandi Mahadev Temple, Munjeshwarnath Temple in Bhauvapar, Moteshwar Mahadev Temple in Pipraich, the ancient Shiva temple at Lakhesara village and Neelkanth Mahadev Temple in Saraya Tiwari.Among the major projects, Piteshwarnath Temple received Rs 9.88 crore, Munjeshwarnath Temple Rs 6.23 crore and Mansarovar Temple Rs 6.01 crore. Other key allocations include Rs 2.19 crore for Mukteshwarnath Temple, Rs 1.77 crore for Neelkanth Mahadev Temple and Rs 1.49 crore for Moteshwar Mahadev Temple.Development works have also been sanctioned for temples at Kui Bazaar, Randauli Mathia and Mahadev Kund in Sirsiya.Rajendra Prasad said the tourism development initiatives have improved facilities for devotees while helping preserve the region’s religious heritage. The upgraded temples are expected to attract large numbers of pilgrims during the holy month of Shravan and contribute to the growth of rural tourism.
