Jaipur: City’s promising martial art player Shaurya Maheshwari from Jayshree Periwal Pre School, Malviya Nagar clinched gold medal in the Under-18 kg weight category at the recently held Worldwide Super League International Taekwondo Championship.Five-year-old Shaurya triumphed in the kyorugi event with a brilliant performance. Hundreds of athletes from across India and other nations participated in the three-day competition held in the Pink City. The tournament featured as a major tournament under the initiative of the Sports Authority of India and Fit India.The World Wide Super League (WWSL) International Taekwondo Championship is a major international taekwondo event, with the 2026 edition held from April 10 to 12 at the Khelo India Indoor Stadium in Rajasthan Police Academy Jaipur, Rajasthan.The tournament featured kyorugi, poomsae, speed kick, speed punch, and taekwondo dance. The team of Global Institute of Self Defence and Martial Arts (GOSEDMA) displayed excellent agility and technique and clinched a total of 16 medals all over. Shaurya has been preparing for taekwondo under the guidance of coach and international player Richa Gaur at GOSEDMA.For Shaurya, who is just 5 years old, it was his second medal in an international taekwondo tournament, the previous one being bronze at Kukkiwon International tournament held in Delhi last October.
