Rajkot: Rajkot city recorded the highest maximum temperature in Gujarat at 42.7°C on Thursday, as the state braced for a heatwave-like weekend.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several cities across state crossed the 40 degree mark. Amreli followed closely at 42.5°C, while Surendranagar recorded 42.1°C. Ahmedabad logged 41.5°C, Bhuj 41.2°C and Vallabh Vidyanagar 40.1°C.The IMD has forecast a further rise in temperatures over the next two to three days, indicating a harsher spell of summer heat across the state.
