Women SHGs, jail inmates prepare 3.25 lakh flags for Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign

Varanasi: Linking the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign with public participation, the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) has facilitated the production of 3.25 lakh national flags through women’s self-help groups and jail inmates.Chief development officer Prakhar Kumar Singh said around 700 women from 30 self-help groups and six area-level federations prepared nearly 3 lakh tricolour flags. The district jail inmates contributed by making around 25,000 flags.The flags, produced under DUDA’s supervision, have been distributed to 22 departments. Those involved in the initiative earned around Rs 9.75 lakh.DUDA officials said women prepared the flags at their homes and group centres, helping them earn additional income and move towards economic self-reliance. The participation of jail inmates was also aimed at supporting their social rehabilitation and encouraging positive engagement.The initiative has combined the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign with women’s empowerment, public participation and social inclusion, giving momentum to efforts to take the national flag to every household on Independence Day.
