Gurgaon: The decomposed body of a woman was found in a forested area in Sector 83 on Friday at 3pm on Friday. Efforts are underway to confirm the woman’s identity.According to police, the body appeared to have been lying in the area for several days and due to its decomposed state, immediate identification was difficult.Senior police, including DCP (west) Karan Goyal, visited the spot along with teams from the crime branch, forensic science laboratory and scene-of-crime unit who inspected the area and collected evidence.Police questioned residents and workers in nearby areas to identify the deceased, but no breakthrough was made. Investigators are examining whether the woman died at the location or whether her body was brought there from elsewhere.The body has been kept at the mortuary pending identification. Police said further clarity regarding the cause of death is expected after the post-mortem and forensic reports are received. A police officer said that the autopsy will be held after 72 hours if the body is not identified. “The autopsy report will clarify if the victim was sexually assaulted or not,” a cop said.“We have circulated her details through the zonal integrated police network and shared information with police units in neighbouring districts and adjoining states. We are also checking records of missing women and gathering information about any recent missing-person complaints that may be linked to the case,” Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson, said.Police also urged the public to contact the nearest police station if they have information about a missing woman matching the description of the deceased.
