Gurgaon: A 22-year-old woman died after a speeding car allegedly hit a bike-taxi near the hilly temple area in DLF Phase 1 on Sunday. The driver of the car rushed the woman and the bike driver to a hospital, where the woman died during treatment on Monday. Police have registered a case against the driver of the car.The woman, Mukti Bodra, had come to the city looking for a job. She had been living with her mother-in-law, Saroj Horo, for six days. Saroj filed a complaint against the car driver at DLF Phase 1 police station. She told the police that on June 7, Mukti hailed a bike through an app to travel from Ghata village to Haus Khas. When the motorcycle was near Khushboo Chowk and the hilly temple area in DLF Phase 1, a speeding white car bearing the registration number HR-77C-7033 allegedly hit it from behind.Both Mukti and the bike driver, Umesh Kumar, suffered injuries in the crash. The driver took them to Narayana Hospital in DLF Phase 3 and informed their family members.Doctors declared Mukti unfit to give a statement after the accident. Umesh was allowed to give a statement but said he would do so after consulting his family. Mukti died during treatment on June 8.Police have registered an FIR against the car driver under BNS sections 125(A) (act endangering life), 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence).An officer privy to the investigation said, “We will send a notice to the car owner and proceed with necessary legal action against the driver.”In another accident, a 55-year-old man died after an Innova allegedly hit his motorcycle near Sector 63A on Monday morning.Vijay Kumar, a resident of Kadarpur, was returning to his village when the accident took place around 11.30am. According to the complaint filed by his nephew Mukul, a black car bearing the registration number HR-55AM-3556 allegedly came from the wrong side at a high speed and hit his uncle’s bike. “The impact threw Vijay onto the road, following which the car ran him over,” he said.Mukul, who was nearby, rushed to the spot after passers-by informed him and helped take his uncle to Marengo Asia Hospital, Sector 56, along with the car driver.Doctors treated Vijay for multiple injuries, including injuries to his head, but he died during treatment. His family members reached the hospital after receiving information about the accident.Sector 65 police station received information from the hospital and sent a team for legal proceedings. “Based on Mukul’s complaint and medical documents, police registered an FIR under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS,” an officer said.
