Chennai: A 39-year-old woman history-sheeter was arrested for stealing an ATM card from a fellow passenger on a crowded Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus and withdrawing ₹13,800 from her bank account. The accused was identified through CCTV footage.The complainant, Radhika, a resident of Karambakkam near Porur and an employee of a private company, was travelling on an MTC bus on July 7. When she got down at the Vadapalani bus terminus, she received a text message from her bank stating that ₹13,800 was withdrawn using her ATM card.Radhika realised that her purse, containing her ATM card and identity documents, kept inside her handbag, was missing. She immediately lodged a complaint with Valasaravakkam police. Police arrested the suspect, Sathya, 39, of Kundrathur, who was involved in more than 30 crime cases.Sathya targeted passengers travelling on crowded city buses during peak hours. She used the PIN number written on the ATM card cover to withdraw money. He was remanded in judicial custody.End
