Pune: The Vishrambaug police have arrested four Undri men for alleged house burglaries in the city and seized wigs, tools, a car worth Rs 37 lakh and gold and silver jewellery from them.The wigs would help conceal their identities, investigators have found, while they scouted buildings in a car and carried out burglaries, making it difficult for CCTV cameras and witnesses to identify them.Deputy commissioner of police (Zone I) Krushikesh Rawale said the suspects were wanted in three theft cases registered with Market Yard, Ambegaon and Bharati Vidyapeeth police stations. “These police stations have established their identities, and our team was also searching for them,” he said.Acting on a tip-off on Saturday, a Vishrambaug police team reached Undri and found them sitting in a car. A team headed by senior inspector Navnath Jagtap, inspector Vikas Bhingardive, assistant inspector Umesh Karke and police constables Nitin Mundhe, Amol Bhosale and Mahesh Kadam arrested them.Rawale said, “With the arrest, we have solved nine cases of thefts registered with Vishrambaug, Vishrantwadi, Kalepadal and Parvati police stations”.“The suspects were identified as Shankarsingh alias Kunalsingh Juni (27) and Akshaysingh alias Akshay Juni (22), both from Hadapsar, and Ranbirsingh Dhansingh Bawari (26) and Sonusingh Shakhasing Tilpitiya (22), both residents of Vadodara in Gujarat”, Rawale said.The police team reportedly identified the suspects after examining CCTV footage recorded at different locations in old city areas. Investigatigation is underway to probe their involvement in other house break-in cases.Rawale said Shankarsingh, allegedly the prime suspect, had been arrested in an MCOCA case in 2020 and was currently out on bail.
