Dhubri: The last rites of Ramanuj Goswami were performed at Gauripur Samsan Ghat early Wednesday amid tight security and the presence of a large number of people.An ambulance carrying Goswami’s body reached Gauripur around 10:30 pm on Tuesday and first went to his residence in Ward 10. After family members and relatives paid their last respects, the body was taken to the cremation ground. The last rites were completed around 3:30 am.The death prompted mixed reactions among local residents, with some referring to allegations and controversies surrounding Goswami and the distress caused to his family.Several residents also raised concerns about drug abuse and alleged drug peddling in the area. They demanded stringent action against those involved in the illegal drug trade.Goswami’s mother, Anjali Goswami, broke down when she saw the body arrive. The cremation was conducted under heightened security to prevent any untoward incident.
