Jaipur: World Health Organisation’s representative to India, Yvan JF Hutin, Tuesday concluded a two-day visit to Jaipur to assess Rajasthan’s health services and the cashless treatment system under the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya (MAA) Yojana.Hutin met Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Gayatri Rathore to discuss strengthening health services and expanding financial protection for patients. Talks also covered possible technical cooperation through WHO’s technical support unit.Discussions focused on training health workers, improving disease surveillance, and pursuing health system reforms. A senior health department official said the state and WHO discussed building a strategic partnership to improve the effectiveness and resilience of Rajasthan’s health services.Hutin visited a primary care centre in the Vatika area and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, which provides cashless treatment under the MAA scheme. He reviewed the process from patient registration to treatment, as well as claims processing, and interacted with a beneficiary undergoing a bone marrow transplant to understand the treatment pathway and financial support under the scheme.Hutin said Rajasthan had made progress on health financial security and praised cashless coverage for high-cost procedures, noting it reduces the financial burden on families facing serious illness.
