Weather tomorrow: IMD forecasts heavy rain across north and central India; northeast to see intense showers
According to the IMD, conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to advance into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, covering the entire country over the next two to three days.

NEW DELHI: Heavy rain is likely to continue across several parts of the country on Thursday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast an active southwest monsoon over north, central, eastern and southern India.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely in several states, while the monsoon is expected to cover the entire country over the next two to three days.

IMD alert for Thursday

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan.Heavy rainfall is also likely over Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, central Maharashtra and West Bengal.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected over Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan and Telangana, while isolated gusty winds are also likely in some of these regions.

Delhi-NCR weather tomorrow

Delhi is likely to receive rain, with heavy showers expected at isolated places.Similar weather conditions are forecast over Haryana and Punjab as monsoon activity remains active across northwest India.

North India forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Uttar Pradesh.Jammu and Kashmir is also expected to receive widespread rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning likely in some areas.

Central India forecast

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh, while Vidarbha is expected to receive heavy showers. Rainfall activity is expected to continue over central India over the next few days.

East and northeast India forecast

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.Heavy rain is also likely over Bihar and parts of West Bengal, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are expected to continue receiving widespread rainfall.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely across parts of the northeast.

South India forecast

Heavy rainfall is likely over Karnataka and Kerala, with thunderstorms expected over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana.

Monsoon update

The southwest monsoon has advanced further into the remaining parts of Gujarat and additional parts of Rajasthan and Haryana.According to the IMD, conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to advance into the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab, covering the entire country over the next two to three days.

The IMD has forecast active monsoon conditions over large parts of the country during the next three to four days.Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across parts of north, central, eastern and northeastern India, while rain activity is likely to remain active over the west coast and parts of southern India.
