Water pipeline bursts continue in Bicholim

Bicholim: The incidents of water pipeline bursts going unattended continue in Bicholim taluka, once again leading to water shortage in several areas.On Sunday, the pipeline supplying water to the entire Karapur village and its surrounding areas was damaged at Vijaynagar, Karapur, after it was accidentally hit by an unidentified goods carrier truck. As a result, the entire Karapur area was left without water supply on Sunday.A similar incident was reported on Saturday evening when another water pipeline burst at Haturlim, Mayem. According to locals, the pipeline burst due to its deteriorated condition, causing disruption in water supply and creating inconvenience for locals in the area.Such incidents have worsened the already bad water supply situation in the state, which is currently battling dipping reservoir levels due to deficit rainfall.Locals have urged the drinking water department (DWD) to undertake a comprehensive replacement of old and dilapidated pipelines with modern infrastructure. They stressed that the use of proper technical expertise and durable materials is essential to prevent frequent pipeline failures and ensure an uninterrupted water supply in the future.Residents expressed concern that unless the water distribution network is upgraded, such incidents will continue to occur, resulting in water scarcity across the taluka.
