Panchkula: With the objective of effectively curbing road accidents and ensuring the safety of citizens, a team from the Surajpur Traffic Police Station, Panchkula, led by In-charge Sub-Inspector Abhishek, conducted a comprehensive road safety campaign. As part of this campaign, special warning sign boards were strategically installed at identified “black spots” (accident-prone zones), high-risk areas, and various T-junctions along the Shimla-Kalka Highway and the Pinjore-Baddi Highway. Through these sign boards, motorists were sensitised to remain alert in advance, maintain controlled speeds, and drive cautiously, thereby minimising the likelihood of accidents.Furthermore, the police team engaged in special interactions with auto-rickshaw drivers in the Mauli and Raipur Rani areas, sensitising them to adhere to traffic regulations, avoid overloading, stick to designated routes, and prioritise passenger safety.During the campaign, a significant enforcement action was undertaken wherein nine illegal road cuts located on the Narayanagarh-Raipur Rani-Mauli Road were permanently closed. These illegal cuts frequently were the cause of road accidents. Their closure is expected to result in a safer and more organised traffic flow on the road.DCP (Crime and Traffic) Amrinder Singh said, “The primary objective of the Panchkula Police is to ensure the safety of the lives and property of its citizens. To prevent road accidents, it is imperative to address issues at black spots, close illegal road cuts, and raise awareness among the general public.”
