Itanagar: Surface connectivity to the strategically vital border outpost of Damin-Huri in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh was restored on Wednesday, less than 48 hours after a flash flood washed away a key bridge, an official report said.The incident occurred on July 13, leaving the frontier area cut off and disrupting the movement of residents, essential supplies and security personnel.The Kurung Kumey district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Cheechung Chukhu, launched an emergency restoration operation in coordination with the 85 Road Construction Company of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).Despite torrential rain, difficult terrain and adverse weather, engineering teams and local workers constructed a temporary log bridge, restoring the vital link.Officials credited the effort to coordination between the district administration, the BRO and local villagers who volunteered during the emergency.The district administration also deployed its Quick Response Team to Damin-Huri and Parsi Parlo to assess damage and coordinate relief and logistical support with affected residents.Officials said restoring connectivity to Damin-Huri was critical for national security and civilian needs as the area lies along the international border.The temporary crossing has been opened for light traffic, allowing the resumption of essential supplies and emergency services. Authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant, warning that continued monsoon activity could trigger further landslides and flash floods in the district.
