Bengaluru: Amid power mongering in Karnataka, CM Siddaramaiah Tuesday turned the Chamarajanagara-jinxed theory on its head, saying every visit to the border district has consolidated his position as chief minister. It’s long held — and also believed — that a CM visiting Chamarajanagara district loses power.Amid whispers of succession, power-sharing tensions and lobbying in Delhi, the CM’s statement at Gundlupet helipd in Chamarajanagara district was seen as a direct message to his detractors and an assertion of authority. The CM told reporters: “I do not believe in superstitions. I have been visiting Chamarajanagar. In fact, once I casually remarked that visiting Chamarajanagar makes the position stronger!”Sources said the CM, with his statement, has signalled that every challenge against him has made him stronger. — Manav Sharma
