Chennai: Chief minister C Joseph Vijay has invited Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Tamil Nadu for a meeting on Saturday to discuss the Centre’s proposed delimitation exercise.The meeting, scheduled at 3pm on Aug 8 at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, will deliberate on the proposed constituency delimitation and its implications for TN, said a statement from govt. Invitations were sent through Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, the statement added.The meeting comes in the backdrop of speculations that Union govt will table a bill in this regard in the ongoing parliamentary session. While BJP backs the bill, all the other parties in TN have objected to the delimitation exercise. However, DMK, which was stridently opposing the exercise, has appeared to soften its stand, stating that it would decide after going through the contents of the bill’s draft.The invitation will be extended to DMK MPs as well, though DMK is yet to take a call on whether to attend the meeting or not.
