Lucknow: State information commissioner PN Dwivedi on Thursday urged senior journalists to conduct skill-building workshops for the younger generation. He was speaking at the 2nd Gyanendra Sharma Memorial Award ceremony at UP Press Club on Thursday. Veteran journalist Sunita Aron was given the award this year. Presented in the memory of well-known journalist Gyanendra Sharma (1944–2024), it recognises senior journalists who uphold integrity, courage and public service while advancing the profession. The ceremony was organised on Sharma’s birth anniversary and drew a large gathering of journalists, litterateurs and teachers. Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Naveen Joshi said that scribes must introspect and identify the reasons for growing hostility of people towards the profession during protests and work to rebuild public trust. A large number of speakers including senior journalists, writers, Sharma’s friend, went down the memory lane to recall his immense contribution in the presence of his son Anupam Sharma.
