Vasai: A 71-year-old woman died after her old tiled house collapsed amid heavy rain in Vasai on Tuesday, taking the rain-related death toll in the area to 12.Shashikala Arun Patil (71) was trapped under the debris after her house collapsed around noon in Kavdi Bagh at Rameadi in Vasai West. Fire brigade personnel from the Vasai-Virar civic body’s Tamtalav unit rushed to the spot and rescued her using a woodcutter machine and iron rods.Patil, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to the civic-run Sir D M Petit Hospital, where she died during treatment around 11.30 pm. Police have registered an accidental death case.
