Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) on Wednesday launched India’s first international online certification courses aimed at equipping aspiring professionals with specialised skills required to enter the metro sector, even without prior experience in the industry.The initiative was launched by UPMRC managing director Sushil Kumar through the corporation’s Centre of Excellence and Training (CoET). He said the courses aim to bridge the skill gap by offering structured, affordable and globally accessible training to those seeking careers in the metro industry.The first phase offers more than a dozen certification courses covering rolling stock, traction, electrical systems, signalling, track maintenance and automatic fare collection. Around 50 more specialised courses are in the pipeline and will be introduced in phases, covering metro planning, construction, operations, maintenance, safety, and other technical domains, officials said.The courses are open to engineers, consultants, contractors, students and anyone interested in building a career in the metro sector. The fee has been fixed at Rs 200 per course for Indian nationals and $100 for foreign participants.Registration is available through the ‘Online Courses’ section on the official UPMRC website.
