UP teachers’ body announces strike over unresolved issues | Lucknow News



Lucknow: The Federation of the Uttar Pradesh University and College Teachers’ Association (FUPUCTA) on Thursday announced to launch a phased agitation over issues concerning teachers of aided colleges and the functioning of higher education institutions.The decision came soon after unification of the two factions of the organisation after a gap of 20 years on Wednesday.The federation will submit a 23-point memorandum of demands to the principal secretary, higher education, Uttar Pradesh and the director, higher education, Prayagraj, in the first week of October, followed by district- and college-level protests in October and a state-level sit-in/march in Nov 2026.The federation has also said that a statewide examination boycott will be undertaken if issues related to regular academic sessions and pending examination payments are not resolved by the upcoming semester.FUPUCTA patron, Harendra Kumar Rai said, “After the merger of the two organizations, FUPUCTA will function through a democratic process under the revised constitution, strengthening the organization’s ability to represent teachers.”FUPUCTA president, prof Virendra Singh Chauhan said that the merger will provide a stronger and more effective platform to address the challenges facing higher education and teachers.General secretary prof Pradeep Kumar Singh said, “A phased and wide agitation will be launched to address the problems of teachers of aided non-government colleges.
