Gandhinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah has written to chief minister Bhupendra Patel, Ahmedabad’s mayor Hitesh Barot and municipal commissioner, seeking a permanent solution to severe waterlogging in Ambli, Ghuma and Bopal in western Ahmedabad. These areas, which fall under his Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, witnessed heavy flooding following the recent downpour in Ahmedabad.Bimal Joshi, media in charge of the BJP’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, said in a statement that, following Shah’s instructions, AMC had prepared a zone-wise stormwater drainage master plan after conducting a hydrological study of the entire area.Joshi said these areas were included within AMC limits in 2021, but the absence of an existing stormwater drainage network had made waterlogging particularly severe.
