Palanpur: Two 18-year-old boys drowned in Sabarmati River near Sapteshwar in Sabarkantha district when they went to immerse idols after observing Dashama vrat.The duo, who belonged to Mehsana, had gone early in the morning to immerse the idols. The accidentally slipped into the river during the ritual and drowned, said sources in Himmatnagar fire brigade.The deceased were identified as Navdeep Rawat and Rajvir Thakor.The 10-day Dashama festival ended on Saturday. The immersion marks farewell to the deity, symbolising the return of the temporary form to the earth and water in hopes of receiving blessings, good fortune, and prosperity.
