Gurgaon: A 200-metre stretch of the master road along sectors 102 and 102A has remained completely dark due to missing streetlight poles, raising concerns over road safety and security among residents.Residents said some streetlights were damaged nearly two years ago during the redevelopment of this road but have not been replaced despite repeated complaints to the authorities.Gursimron Singh, a resident of Adani Oyster Grande, said this has left a portion of the road poorly lit, particularly the stretch opposite their society and Shapoorji Joyville. “The road becomes extremely dark at night. The lack of adequate lighting is a serious safety concern for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists,” he said.Residents said they have approached MCG, GMDA and HSVP several times, but the issue remains unresolved, with agencies passing responsibility to one another. Residents said the prolonged darkness increases the risk of accidents and security incidents, especially after sunset, and urged the civic agencies to fix the responsibility.Sunil Sareen, vice president of Imperial Gardens RWA, said around 10 to 15 streetlight poles were still missing on the Sector 102-102A road. He also pointed out that a high-mast light at the Sector 102 intersection with the GMDA’s 75-metre road, opposite Prime Scholar School, has been missing for several months.“Unfortunately, HSVP, GMDA and DHBVN are passing the responsibility to each other, leaving this busy stretch inadequately lit. The departments need to coordinate and restore the lighting instead of passing the buck,” Sareen said.Meanwhile, HSVP officials said that they are only responsible for operation and maintenance of streetlights in the area. “Any upgradation, including installation of new lights or replacement of streetlights, will be taken up by GMDA.”When contacted, GMDA officials said they are in the process of transfer of streetlights in new sectors. “But till the transfer process is completed, HSVP is responsible for its maintenance,” an official said.
