Ghaziabad: Two men were arrested for allegedly offering a ride to a 16-year-old girl in Masuri but taking her to Hapur and raping her instead, police said.An FIR had been registered based on a complaint filed by the girl’s local guardian at the Masuri police station on Saturday. She told the cops that the girl had left home without informing anyone around 4pm on July 27. Unable to reach her till late at night, the woman began searching for her. “I thought she had gone to her parents in Bulandshahr and called her family, but they didn’t know anything,” she wrote in the complaint.Around 8pm, the next day, the girl returned to her local guardian’s place. She was distressed and told the woman that she had been standing near the Masuri underpass the previous evening when a white car stopped in front of her. The two men in the car offered her a ride home. They called each other Mujahid and Salim. They then took her to an isolated place in Pilkhuwa, Hapur and took turns raping her inside the car. The men then threatened her before dropping her back to the same spot.A senior police officer said the girl seemed to have got confused about her location when she was near the underpass.DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said that the FIR has been registered against the two men under BNS section 70 (2) (gang rape) and under sections of Pocso Act. “After scanning CCTV footage on NH-9, we identified the car. We traced the registration number to Pilkhuwa resident 45-year-old Mujahid. Our team went to his house but could not find him. Mujahid and Salim Akhtar were later arrested from Masuri Road. Further investigation is underway,” he said.
