Two fire at advocate near farmhouse over land dispute near Bengaluru
After two farmers fired at him, advocate Mohan is getting treatment at hospital

Bengaluru: An advocate from the city sustained injuries after two farmers fired at him with an unlicensed rifle in Sundaghatta village, Ramanagara, Friday morning. The injured advocate, CN Mohan, had visited his farmhouse on the outskirts of the village and was walking outside the compound when the shots were fired, police said. Two accused farmers, identified as Shivanna and Nagaraj, have been arrested on attempt-to-murder charges and have also been booked under Arms Act.Initially, police thought Mohan had stepped on a crude bomb and sustained injuries when it exploded. “Local poachers have the habit of placing homemade crude bombs at places where forest animals frequently pass. When we checked the spot and Mohan’s injuries on his back and leg, we realised pellets were fired at him from a long range,” an officer said.A senior police officer said Shivanna and Nagaraj were upset with Mohan over a land-related dispute. “His farmhouse and neighbouring agricultural lands are interconnected with a pathway. There were differences between Mohan and the accused over using the pathway. Shivanna and Nagaraj decided to frighten Mohan by firing from the rifle,” he said.A spot mahazar with the accused showed they had fired at Mohan after hiding behind a bush. “The range was over 30 feet and that’s why the pellets scattered on reaching Mohan. After firing at him, the farmers ran back to their houses,” police said.
