Chintamani: Forest officials rescued two blackbucks (Indian antelopes) after they accidentally fell into a nearly 60- to 70-foot-deep open well in an agricultural field at Jagatanahalli village in Chintamani taluk of Chikkaballapur district.Landowner Bhimaraddi noticed the animals trapped inside the well and alerted the forest department. Forest officials, with the assistance of local villagers, immediately launched a rescue operation. Using ropes and other equipment, they carefully pulled both blackbucks out of the well. After a health check, the animals were safely released into the forest.A forest official said the blackbucks may have strayed into the village in search of food and water. Rising temperatures and inadequate water sources in forest areas are increasingly forcing wildlife into adjoining villages.
