Ayodhya/Lucknow: A closed-door meeting between Ram Temple Trusts Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri and former general secretary Champat Rai took place in Ayodhya on Wednesday morning, sources said.Sources said Giri reached the Teerth Kshetra Puram, the Trust’s guest house near the Ram temple complex, after seeking an appointment with Rai. The meeting lasted for an hour, but details of the discussion were not known as neither side confirmed the meeting. Sources added that Giri had requested time to meet Rai a day earlier but was unable to arrive until Wednesday morning.Giri had earlier said that trustees did not betray the Trust. Instead, the betrayal took place because Champat Rai trusted wrong people, he had stated. It has also emerged that the Trust’s newly appointed interim general secretary Krishna Mohan too met Rai on Tuesday evening. Mohan also toured the temple complex to understand the various works and activities and met with the key staff members involved in managing different functions at the Trust office. In a post on social media on Tuesday, Rai had stated that he would come out with facts and truth on the controversy (around the alleged donation theft) after the SIT concludes its probe.Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad office-bearers are also camping in Ayodhya and have been meeting Rai to discuss different matters with him. From the time controversy brewed up, Rai has shifted to Teerth Kshetra Puram and has been staying in one of the flats in the building though earlier he stayed at Bharat Kuti in Karsewakpuram in Ayodhya.TOI did get a response from Krishna Mohan despite attempts. While Mohan has been maintaining distance from media after taking over, he has stressed that his priority will be on restoring the faith of Ram devotees.
