Truck carrying LPG cylinders catches fire on Jaipur Ring Road

Jaipur: A truck carrying 359 LPG cylinders caught fire on Jaipur’s Ring Road Sunday afternoon, triggering panic and prompting police to temporarily halt traffic in both directions as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, firefighters reached the spot and extinguished the blaze within 10 minutes using a single fire tender. The driver of the truck escaped unhurt after jumping out of the vehicle moments after flames engulfed the vehicle’s cabin. The incident occurred around 3.30pm in the Sanganer Sadar police station area. Police said the truck driver was transporting the cylinders from Alwar to Jaipur, and was headed towards a gas plant in Sitapura when the fire started.Officials said there was great initial concern given the truck’s cargo, but the driver confirmed that all LPG cylinders on board were empty. They said this significantly reduced the risk of a major explosion and allowed firefighters to focus on containing the cabin fire. The blaze was brought under control before it could spread from the cabin to the vehicle’s cargo area.Traffic movement on the Ring Road was gradually restored soon after the fire was brought under control. An investigation into the cause of the fire remains underway.
